Fener Closing In On Turkish Title

Angel McCoughtry came up with another great performance but this time her compatriot Cappie Pondexter led the way for Fenerbahce, with 29 points

Fenerbahce are just one win away from lifting the Turkish women's title after winning Game 2 of their domestic play-off finals against rivals Galatasaray, 98-93.

The game was knotted at the end of the third quarter but Fener, who were 25 of 27 at the free-throw line, did just enough to claim the victory.

Cappie Pondexter had 29 points and Angel McCoughtry 20 for Fener, while Diana Taurasi led Gala with 25 points and Sylvia Fowles poured in 24.

The veteran center of Fenerbahce, Ivana Matovic, also weighed in with 17 points.

Gala will try to stay alive in the Finals when they host Game 3 on Tuesday.

Kayseri Kaskispor, meanwhile, who finished runners-up in the EuroCup Women, have said they have signed EuroLeague Women Final Eight MVP Asjha Jones for next season.

Jones led Rivas Ecopolis to a surprise appearance in the title game against Ros Casares and averaged 17.9 points and nine rebounds per game.


Wisla Can-Pack Krakow have earned a place in the PLKK Finals after sweeping Energa Torun, 3-0.

Jose Ignacio Hernandez's team followed up two home wins with an 82-63 victory at Energa on Saturday.

Nicole Powell had 18 points for Wisla and Ewelina Kobryn 15.

Lotos Gdynia, meanwhile, stayed alive in their Semi-Final with CCC Polkowice by winning twice at home.

They prevailed in Game 3, 85-77, and then in Game 4 on Sunday triumphed, 72-61.

Geraldine Robert had 22 points for Gdynia as they forced a deciding fifth game which is to be played on Wednesday in Polkowice.
