BASKETBALL IN EUROPE
|Shooting guard Laurie Datchy, who has represented France in all age categories from U16 to U20, has joined Tarbes from Lille|
Changes are afoot at Tarbes GB following a difficult campaign when the French outfit lost all 10 EuroLeague Women games and also came in fifth in the domestic regular-season standings.
Fans will see new players, and a new coach, when the 2012-13 campaign tips off.
At the end of April, the team swooped for one of the best players in Spain, Angelica Robinson.
The 1.96m Robinson led Girona to a third-place finish in Spain's Liga Femenina while averaging 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.
The 25-year-old American shot 56.3 per cent from inside the arc but also showed some ability from long range, burying 48 per cent (12 of 25) of her shots.
Named four times as the Liga Femenina MVP, Robinson led all players in Spain with a valuation of 21.
To put that into perspective, Perfumerias Avenida's center Erika De Souza and Ros Casares star Sancho Lyttle, two of the biggest names in women's basketball, had season-ending valuations of 20.
Tarbes then agreed terms with Lille's Laurie Datchy, a 22-year-old shooting guard.
Now the club has replaced coach Pascal Pisan with Cyril Sicsic, the former boss of Calais.
Sicsic did an impressive job at Calais, leading the club to a third-place finish this season in the French second division.
Tarbes have said they expect to announce the signing of a Serbian player this week, possibly as early as Wednesday.
