Erin Lawless had 16 points for Good Angels Kosice in the away win at MBK Ruzomberok

Good Angels Kosice brushed aside all before them during the regular season in Slovakia's top flight with 24 victories in as many games.

Now the club that impressed on numerous occasions in the EuroLeague Women is closing in on a sweep of the play-off finals.

The defending champions lead MBK Ruzomberok 2-0 in the title series.

They followed up a 78-68 victory at home with a 77-65 triumph at Ruzomberok over the weekend.

In that Game 2 win, Erin Lawless had 16 points and Miljana Bojovic poured in 15.

Zuzana Zirkov√°, the veteran playmaker who missed much of the season through injury, contributed six points for Kosice.

Winning coach MaroŇ° Kovacik said: "We played better than in the first game at home, with heart and great ambition.

"We fought and broke through in the third quarter, when we showed more experience.

"The spectators saw a beautiful basketball game."

Ruzomberok, participants in this season's EuroCup Women, fought hard but came up short again.

The coach of the losing side, Ivan Kurilla, said: "The game was played at a higher level than Wednesday's in Kosice.

"The first half was absolutely balanced."

Admitting Ruzomberok had the lost the initiative in the third quarter, Kovacik said: "We lost, but the girls could leave the court with their heads held high."

Game 3 is in Kosice on Wednesday.
