Tragedy Strikes Finland

American player Chris Sandy died tragically on Thursday in a car accident at the age of 27.

Sandy was a player for team Kouvot in the Finnish league.

A moment of silence will be held at the beginning of every league game in Finland during the upcoming weekend.

The fatal accident occurred on Thursday, November 23rd, nearby Kouvola, the home city of Kouvot.

Two cars and a truck were involved in the accident.

Chris Sandy was driving one of the cars. The female passenger of Sandy's car was injured and taken to the hospital as well as the female driver of the other car.

At the time of the accident, visibility was weak due to rainy weather and darkness.

Chris Sandy was playing his first season in Finland.

Despite his short stay in the country, the graduate of Fresno State University played his way into the hearts of fans of people involved in league basketball.

Sandy was an entertainer, who got the crowd involved.

The last game Sandy ever played was one of the most sensational one in Finland.

He led his team to victory over UU-Korihait by scoring a spectacular 23 points during the last ten minutes.

FIBA Europe along with the Finnish Basketball Association pass on their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Chris Sandy.
