Netherlands: Kullamae Fires Eiffeltowers to Narrow Win

26 October 2004

Estonia national team star Gert Kullamae came to the rescue for Nijmegen Eiffeltowers with a late three-pointer as they scraped a 75-74 win over Tulip Den Bosch in the Dutch top flight.

The 1.96m guard, who averaged more than 13 points a game for Estonia in European Championship qualifying this summer, was seven of 14 from three-point range and finished with 30 points as Nijmegen won for the second time in three games.

His most important trey came with only 1.2 seconds left to the seal the victory.

Nijmegen went to the fourth quarter trailing 57-45, but Kullamae got hot and pulled his team back.

He could hardly believe his side fought back to win.

"Just three minutes before the end we were still 11 points behind!" he said to Estonian newspaper Eesti Paevaleht.

Den Bosch have also won two of their first three contests.

The Amsterdam Demon Astronauts have prevailed in three of their four games so far and share the lead in the standings with Leeuwarden.
