Roundup: Pecherov, Williams Quit NBA For Europe

Ukraine center Oleksiy Pecherov is returning to European basketball, agreeing a deal with Armani Jeans Milano.

Pecherov, 24, has spent the last three seasons in the NBA, and last season played for the Minnesota Timberwolves where he averaged 4.5 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Pecherov is on duty with Ukraine in the EuroBasket qualifiers right now, and has registered averages of 14.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in four games so far.

Milano coach Piero Bucchi was delighted to have landed Pecherov.

"I'm very pleased about his arrival, as he was our first choice," he said. "Pecherov is a wing-center with a good shot, even from three-point range, and he will give us great physicality. He' s a great athlete and is the perfect player for our team.

"He's in the prime of his basketball career, coming up on 25 years old, and I am keen for his time with us to begin."

Williams quits NBA for Enisey

BC Enisey have made a major signing as they gear up for their EuroChallenge campaign, landing Marcus Williams directly from the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies.

The University of Connecticut product made 61 appearances for the Grizzlies last season, averaging 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

But now Williams, who also played for the New Jersey Nets and Golden State Warriors, as well as the Quebradillas Pirates in Puerto Rico, is heading to Russia having signed a one-year deal with Enisey.

Jaacks joins Bonn

Meanwhile, Telekom Baskets Bonn have solved their need for a big man by signing veteran center Jacob Jaacks.

Jaacks comes to Germany from Hapoel Afula in Israel, where he averaged 7.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists last season.

Reis completes Spanish switch

Portugal star Sonia Reis has signed for Spanish club Uni Girona for the 2010/11 season.

Reis, who has been on fire during the early stage of the EuroBasket Women Division B campaign, leading all scorers with an average of 24 points, spent the last two seasons with Cadi la Seu D'urgell, where she averaged 10 points and five rebounds in the previous campaign.

Reis joins fellow new signing Morgan Warburton as Girona fashion an exciting new roster.
