Lawson-Wade Scoops Honor

8. Edwige Lawson (BLMA)
France's Ligue Feminine Player of the Year: Edwige Lawson-Wade  of BLMA

Edwige Lawson-Wade will look back fondly on her return to French basketball.

Having been playing overseas for several years, the national team playmaker returned home and competed for Lattes Montpellier in the French top flight and the EuroLeague Women.

Lawson-Wade has performed at a high level all season long and has this week been named as the Player of the Year, a joint award decided by the French basketball monthly Maxi Basketball and the weekly, Basket News.

The media publications polled captains and coaches of teams, and consulted a panel of journalists, and the 32-year-old point guard scooped the honor.

Lawson-Wade, who averaged 13.1 points, 4.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game in the EuroLeague Women for Lattes Montpellier, had similar numbers in France (13.5, 4.8, 3.3 and 1.6).

The foreign player MVP award has gone to Mistie Mims of Challes-les-Eaux, a team that Lattes Montpellier was due to face in a Game 3 decider in the LFB play-off semi-finals on Wednesday night.
