Great Britain: Rodman Could Star For Bears

RODMAN COULD STAR FOR BEARS

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman is set to follow his spell in the Big Brother house with a one-off appearance for Brighton Bears in the British Basketball League.

The 44-year-old, who played as a power forward during a 14-year career, won five NBA titles during his time with Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls.

Bears coach Nick Nurse told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "He's probably the best defensive player the world's seen over the past 20 years.

"The Bulls team he played on was probably the greatest in basketball history and, after Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, he was the third most important player on that team.

"This will be seen as a publicity stunt and, yes, we want to attract people who might not ordinarily be basketball fans.

"But the main reason for doing this is to give basketball fans the chance to see one of the all-time great players playing here in the BBL."

He has spent time in professional wrestling in the United States, and has been winding down his professional basketball career over the past five years.
