“I am absolutely delighted and hope that I will do justice to the role,” said Coleman. “Basketball for women of all ages is a very special thing to me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to progress the cause.”

On the men’s side, Gurr is Basketball Ireland’s Director of High Performance and Coaching and in the past two and half years has been focused on restructuring the entire National Teams Programme.

He has been the men’s head coach of four countries and has coached professionally in the leagues of nine countries, four of which were in Europe.

“I am honoured to be appointed to this position,” said Gurr. “Working in Ireland over the past two years has shown me the tremendous potential for growth and development of Basketball in Ireland.”

Both the Irish men and women’s senior national teams are playing in EuroBasket Division B.
