Demirel, Novak Visit Ukraine

New FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel and Secretary General Kamil Novak were in Ukraine, Tuesday, to discuss EuroBasket 2015 with the country's representatives.

Demirel and Novak were received in Kyiv by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and the Minister for Youth and Sports, Dmytro Bulatov, together with the President of the Ukrainian Basketball Federation Sasha Volkov and Secretary General Sasha Larin.

The six men conferred on a number of issues, including preparations for the upcoming tournament.

The Ukrainian side updated the two FIBA Europe officials on the general political situation of the country as well as its position on hosting the EuroBasket 2015.

The newly elected FIBA Europe Board will meet for the first time in Munich, this Friday, 13 June and is expected to make a decision on the EuroBasket 2015 hosting issue.

A number of Federations have expressed a written intent to organise the tournament in case the Board of FIBA Europe will decide to relocate the event.
