EUROBASKET 2015

FIBA Europe wishes to announce that reports on Wednesday claiming that Ukraine wish to withdraw their obligation as hosts of EuroBasket 2015 or postpone this commitment to the 2017 tournament are untrue.

The Ukrainian Basketball Federation (FBU) has sent an official communique to FIBA Europe, explaining that comments made by the EuroBasket 2015 Local Organising Committee Director Markian Lubkivskyi reflect a purely private viewpoint of his.

Furthermore, FBU were never consulted on this issue.

In the communique, signed by its President Oleksandr Volkov, FBU adds that it "is currently in the phase of reorganizing the Local Organising Committee to optimize its financial needs and use more effectively all resources to carry out the EuroBasket 2015 in Ukraine."

The FIBA Europe Board that convenes in Munich, Germany this coming weekend will discuss all recent developments regarding EuroBasket 2015.
