|Mohamed Abukar came up with a big performance for Lugano in Game 5 of the play-off finals|
Lugano Tigers didn't have it all their own way in the play-offs this season but Randoald Dessarzin's men did just enough to defend the club's Swiss League title.
After winning the regular season with a 20-4 record and also prevailing in the Swiss Cup, Lugano swept Massagno 3-0 in the play-off quarter-finals.
However, they had to go to five games to see off Fribourg, the club they beat in last year's finals, 3-1.
In the title showdown with the Geneva Lions, Lugano never trailed in the series but had to pull out all stops to win.
Dessarzin's team won the opener, 78-70, only for Geneva to hit back with a 100-79 Game 2 triumph.
The Tigers scraped a 94-90 Game 3 win, but the Lions forced a deciding fifth game after rolling to a 100-86 Game 4 success.
Tony Brown had 30 points and five assists, Sean Barnette 21 points, seven rebounds and five helpers and Erroyl Bing 11 points and a game-high 14 boards for Geneva.
Nebojsa Lazarevic's team twice pulled level in the series but Lugano didn't crack, winning Game 5, 92-81.
Mohammed Abukar led the way with 31 points while Zarko Rakocevic contributed 14 along with 11 rebounds.
Rod Brown (13pts, 9ass) and Dusan Mladjan (12pts) were also influential for the Tigers.
