Szolnoki Olaj finished their season on a high by winning the Hungarian play-off finals.
A team that had to go through the Qualifying Round to reach the EuroChallenge and then made it all the way to the Final Four, which they hosted at the end of April in Debrecen, Szolnoki have now won the Hungarian Cup and league championships two years in a row.
They came in third place during the regular season in Hungary's top flight behind Falco-Szova KC Szombathely, but then beat them, 3-1, in the championship series.
Szolnoki had a great start, winning the opening game of the title showdown 75-68 after getting 22 points from Obie Trotter and 18 from Akos Horvath.
The team then took a 2-0 lead in the series with a 101-74 triumph, with Marton Bader and Horvath pouring in 22 points apiece.
Falco-Szova KC Szombathely stayed alive with a 106-98 Game 3 triumph but Szolnoki stormed to the title in Game 4, taking a 63-40 lead by half-time and never looking back.
"We learned from our mistakes in Szombathely (in Game 3)," Szolnoki Olaj coach Peter Por said.
"At the very beginning of the third quarter, we were careful not to give a chance to Falco to come back, and then we could be champions at the end of the game."
Szolnoki swept Kecskemeti 3-0 in the play-off quarter-finals and then overcame Albacomp, 3-0, in the semis.
