Trifunovic New Man In Charge Of Zalgiris

Zalgiris Kaunas had targeted Lithuania national team boss Kestutis Kemzura to become their latest coach.

Instead, the team has opted for a man who last season led their arch rivals, Lietuvos Rytas.

Zalgiris, who recently parted with Ilias Zouros, have put Serbian Aleksandar Trifunovic in charge.

"After talking with Trifunovic, I understood that he has enough knowledge and motivation to coach Zalgiris," club owner Vladimir Romanov said.

"I hope that this specialist will bring Zalgiris to a place where they really belong."

Zalgiris are 0-2 in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague after Group B defeats to CSKA Moscow and Unicaja Malaga.

In the VTB United League, Zalgiris are 2-2 following their weekend defeat to EuroChallenge outfit, BC NN.

The 44-year-old has signed a contract for the remainder of the season.

Larrouquis Hamstring Injury

EuroChallenge outfit Roanne suffered two setbacks at the weekend.

They went down 95-92 at Paris-Levallois and in the process, lost Thomas Larrouquis to a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old shooting guard/small forward played 22 minutes before pulling up lame and being forced off the court.

The Villeurbanne-born Larrouquis played on the Cholet side that reached the EuroChallenge Final.

Roanne will compete in EuroChallenge Group C against BK Pardubice, BC Goverla and BK Prostejov.

Jackson To Be Unveiled

Ros Casares are off to a flying start in the EuroLeague Women with three straight wins.

Now the team has another superstar in the mix with Australia's Lauren Jackson to be introduced to the media on Wednesday in Valencia.

Jackson has been one of the best players in the world the past decade and was recently honored in her native Albury in Australia.

On 22 October, the Albury Sports Stadium was renamed the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre.
