Cras Basket Taranto didn't make an impact in the EuroLeague Women this season, but in Italy's domestic competitions it's been a very different story.
Roberto Ricchini's team beat hosts Beretta-Famila Schio in the Coppa Italia Final back in March and on Monday night, they completed a 3-0 sweep of the same opponents in the Italian play-off final series with a 72-58 victory.
The league title was the third in the last four campaigns for Taranto, with Schio having captured the title last year.
Italy international point guard Giorgia Sottana led the winners with 24 points in Game 3 and was named the MVP of the finals.
"I'm excited and happy," she said.
"This championship is to the merit of everyone at Cras, the club and the fans."
A relieved Ricchini can now go into the close season and recharge his batteries.
"We spent so much energy, but it was worth it," he said.
"We are here to raise our arms to heaven and we do it with joy."
Kia Vaughn, the Taranto center who has clinched a move to USK Prague for next season, had a game-high 13 rebounds to go with her five points.
France international Elodie Godin had nine points and 10 boards for the winners.
