Kirilenko Leads CSKA To VTB Title

CSKA Moscow defeated UNICS Kazan 74-62 on Thursday night to win the VTB United League title in Vilnius.

The 2007 FIBA Europe Player of the Year, Andrei Kirilenko, was named the MVP of the Final Four.

Kirilenko put forth another solid all-round excellent effort and finished the title game with nine points, eight rebounds a steal and a couple of blocks.

In the team's 79-72 win over hosts Lietuvos Rytas in the Semi-Finals, Kirilenko had 19 points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block.

Jonas Kazlauskas, the CSKA Moscow coach, says it's already time to focus on the team's next challenge.

They will play at the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in Istanbul next week.

"Tomorrow, we again go to work because at the end of next week is another Final Four," he said.

In the third-place game at the Siemens Arena, Lietuvos Rytas beat Lokomotiv Moscow, 91-83.

The 2011 FIBA Europe Young Men's Player of the Year, Jonas Valanciunas, had 15 points to lead the winners.

In 23 VTB United League games this season, Valanciunas averaged 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds.

He celebrates his 20th birthday on Friday.
