|Rivas are building a team for the future and the U20 European Championship Women 2011 MVP, Queralt Casas, is an excellent addition|
Rivas Ecopolis have done nothing but make headlines the last two seasons by winning the 2011 Copa de la Reina in Spain and then finishing runners-up at the 2012 EuroLeague Women.
The Spanish club is sure to be in the news even more this season with a host of signings that now includes the 2011 U20 European Championship MVP Queralt Casas.
The 1.80m point guard averaged 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game at the U20 event, and had her best effort in the most important moment of all against Russia in the battle for gold.
Casas finished with 21 points and three steals as Spain won the title in Serbia with a 62-53 win over the Russians.
She averaged 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in the Spanish league last season for Mann Filter Zaragoza.
In announcing her signing on a three-year deal, Rivas said: "This signing is a great reinforcement that will allow the team to solidify, betting on youth and talent and for the player, to allow her to continue to grow at the highest level.
"Queralt Casas becomes a luxury reinforcement on the perimeter for Rivas Ecopolis."
While Spanish veteran Elisa Aguilar is off to Russia and both Asjha Jones and Essence Carson have elected to play in Turkey, there are plenty of weapons in the Rivas team.
Confirmed for next season are Clara Bermejo, Katalin Honti, Anna Cruz, Oleksandra Kurasova, Vega Gimeno, Jaklin Zlatanova and Laura Nicholls.
DE FORGE MOVES TO PRAGUE
A new-look ZVVZ USK Prague have decided to bring in veteran guard Anna De Forge for next season.
The American, who became a naturalized Montenegrin and competed last summer at the EuroBasket Women in Poland, is known for her cool head and excellent jump shot.
"This is a very experienced player who is not subject to pressure and can handle the key moments in important games," said Prague general manager Marek Kucera.
De Forge is not the only Montenegro international now on the books of Prague.
Jelena Skerovic, a point guard, decided to join the Czech champions from Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje.
