EuroChallenge Group L rivals Telekom Baskets Bonn and Tsmoki-Minsk will spend Christmas shopping around for frontcourt players, after both clubs made changes to their roster.

Bonn announced on Saturday that they have decided to terminated their collaboration with power forward Patrick Ewing Jr.

Ewing Jr, the son of legendary New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing, joined the German club in the summer, in his first ever venture in Europe.

"There are only sporting reasons [for our decision], Patrick is a great person," explained head coach Michael Koch.

"[But] He is shaped by an American style of play, he is not the player who can help us in the BBL (German BEKO Bundesliga).

Ewing Jr. did not travel to Bamberg for the Saturday game against the German champions, in which Bonn slumped to a 92-78 defeat.

The 28-year-old forward featured in the first 12 games of Bonn's BBL campaign and contributed 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

He averaged 7.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in six games in the EuroChallenge Regular Season.

Bonn will now scan the market for a replacement but Koch indicated they will have to be extra cautious with their next move.

"We have our own arena, which we have to finance," the coach said.

"Therefore our budget for a replacement is limited."

Minsk meanwhile have decided to part ways with center John Edwards, who did not satisfy coach Andrei Krivonos with his performance.

Edwards played in seven VTB United league games, averaging 3 points and 2.7 rebounds per encounter.

He stepped on the court only once in the EuroChallenge Regular Season, in Minsk's 96-63 defeat at BCM Gravelines Dunkerque and had six points and four rebounds in seven minutes of playing time.

The 31-year-old American had joined Minsk in mid-September, after spending last season at Polish club PGE Turow.

When the EuroChallenge Last 16 tips off on 15 January Minsk travel to Germany to take on EWE Baskets Oldenburg while Bonn face Okapi Aalstar, also on the road, in Group L action.
