|Brose Baskets Bamberg won the German Cup for the third consecutive time.|
There's no team in Germany as good as Brose Baskets Bamberg, at least in recent times.
The club proved that point yet again on Sunday by winning the Beko BBL Cup for the third consecutive time with an 82-73 victory over hosts Telekom Baskets Bonn, a team that played in this season's EuroChallenge.
Marcus Slaughter led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds for Bamberg and was named MVP of the Top Four.
Predrag Suput contributed 16 points for the winners.
"We have experienced a competition here with an outstanding atmosphere," Bamberg coach Chris Fleming said.
There were sell-out crowds to watch the action.
"I am forever grateful that our fans have supported us over two days as they have done," he said.
"It made us stronger in the finals.
"To play here in Bonn isn't easy because the Baskets keep the pace very high and you must always be alert.
"After an exhausting semi-final, we were initially a bit tired, but my guys did a good job, fighting to come together and set the tone.
"The bench players made an important contribution."
In the Semi-Final, Bamberg had needed overtime before claiming a 99-96 triumph over ratiopharm Ulm.
Anton Gavel poured in 30 points in that victory.
