With the U18 European Championship in Vilnius, the capital city of the country of basketball entering the final stages, the FIBA Europe 3on3 tour will pay a visit to the city to add to the buzz.
Directly next to Siemens Arena, the venue that has seen the record breaking crowd of 13.000 watching the U18 European Championship Final 2010 and the Second Round of EuroBasket 2011, six of FIBA Europe's 3on3 courts will be the stage for a day of 3on3 action on 18 August.
In cooperation with the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and the shopping centre Ozas, FIBA Europe is holding its second tournament in the Baltic country, after the Kaunas 3on3 during the final stages of EuroBasket 2011.
Tournament participants will compete in seven age groups, with the main prize in sight for 1994-1995 born boys and girls: qualification for the U18 3x3 World Cup Tournament in Madrid, Spain.
All other age groups are competing for honour and attractive prizes, provided by sponsor partners, the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and FIBA Europe.
Registration will start on Saturday at 10:30 with the action starting at 11:00.
The competitive games will be spiced up with shooting contests, charity games in cooperation with the Rimantas Kaukenas Charity Association and an open practice with coach Raimundas Kairys.
As always in FIBA Europe's 3on3 competitions, all participants are presented with reversible 3on3 jerseys and the FIBA Europe 3on3 crew will also give away t-shirts and basketballs to contest winners and spectators.
Tournament participants will compete in the following age groups:
W U14 (born in 1998 or later)
M U14 (born in 1998 or later)
W U16 (born in 1996 or later)
M U16 (born in 1996 or later)
W U18 (born in 1994 or later)
M U18 (born in 1994 or later)
SENIOR (born 1993 or before)
