On Saturday, FIBA Europe paid hosts to the first Youth Tournament Organisers' Workshop, aimed primarily at the people who have been given the task to coordinate the upcoming 2014 Youth European Championships.
THE MAIN IDEA BEHIND THE WORKSHOP
The workshop was followed by a related Youth forum, focusing on sharing good practice in promotion of the events, a presentation on the talent development system of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), and a discussion on the overuse and overexposure of young players.
The event, which was attended by the FIBA Europe Acting President Cyriel Coomans, Secretary General Kamil Novak and the President of the Youth Commission Aris Zois, was well received by the participants from 30 Federations, most of them agreeing that the initiative was a step into the right direction.
This was the third event focused exclusively on Youth Basketball development, organised by FIBA Europe in the last 3 months, underlying its special importance for Europe's governing body.
FIBA Europe plans to make the Forum an annual event in the future.
