European Championship Draw Seedings Announced

The road to the 2005 European Championships for Men and Women begins at 12:00, on 13th December, 2003 in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro, when the draws for the Qualifying Rounds will take place.

The 4 draws will all be held at the Belgrade City Hall, Dragaslava Jovanovica Str. 2, Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro. The ceremony starts at 12:00 and the programme is as follows:

Draw Programme

  1. Draw for the European Championship for Women Division B,
  2. Draw for the European Championship for Men Division B
  3. Presentation from the Turkish Basketball Federation – organiser of the 2005 European Championship for Women
  4. Draw for the European Championship for Women Division A
  5. Presentation from the Basketball Federation of Serbia and Montenegro – organiser of the 2005 European Championship for Men
  6. Draw for the European Championship for Men Division A

Draw Seedings

FIBA Europe today announced the seedings for the 4 draws which will take place. All seedings are made based on the last official competitions played by each participating team and approved by the Board of FIBA Europe at the meeting of 21st and 22nd November, 2003 in Rome, Italy.

European Championship for Men 2005 Division A

Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Serbia and Montenegro and Spain are automatically qualified to the 2005 European Championship

Seed 1  France Israel Russia Germany Turkey
Seed 2 Croatia Slovenia Latvia Ukraine Bosnia and Herzegovina
Seed 3  Sweden Hungary Estonia Bulgaria Czech Republic
Seed 4 Poland Belgium Netherlands Portugal

The 19 teams will be drawn into 4 groups of 4 teams and 1 group of 3 teams.

The 16 teams will be drawn into 4 groups of 4 teams

Czech Republic, Greece, Russia, Spain and Turkey are automatically qualified to the 2005 European Championship
