These are exciting times to be a part of Bulgarian basketball.

In December the federation inked a deal with former Olympiacos, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Tau Ceramica coach Pini Gershon who will lead the national team in this summer's EuroBasket 2009 qualifying round.  It's a tough road for the Bulgarians who find themselves in Group A with traditional powers Italy and Serbia as well as Finland and Hungary.

Pini Gershon is one of the best in the business when it comes to turning basketball teams into winners and now Bulgaria have enlisted his services for the next two summers.

That was confirmed on Sunday when the Olympiacos coach met with representatives of the Bulgarian Federation in Athens and agreed to coach the team through the summer of 2009 when the EuroBasket is staged in Poland.

”Priceless advice.” This is how Michael Schwarz, FIBA Europe’s Coaching Co-ordinator, describes the feedback he received from the coaches who attended the first year of the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate (FECC) in Rethymnon, Crete, 24-30 July, 2007.

Fifty nine coaches, representing 33 National Federations attended the FECC which coincided with the U16 European Championship Men and returned an evaluation questionnaire on the event after its conclusion.
