With the Qualifying Round for EuroBasket 2009 complete Serbia, FYR of Macedonia, Turkey and Great Britain have secured spots in the final round in Poland as the winners of their groups.
Latvia, Israel and Bulgaria also advanced to the final round of the event as the three best second place teams. The four teams placed second in their groups were ranked according to win/loss percentage and goal coefficient with the top three advancing to the final round of EuroBasket 2009.

Poland qualifies automatically as the hosts of the event.
The 10 teams who participated in the Qualifying Round and did not succeed in going through to the Final Round have been ranked according to their Win/Loss record, their Win/Loss percentage and their goal average coefficient as follows:
The first six teams will take part in an Additional Qualifying Round while the last four will participate in the Relegation Round. The six teams in the Additional Qualifying Round will be broken up into two groups of three teams each with the winners of the two groups facing off for the final spot at EuroBasket 2009 in Poland.
The two teams which finish top of the Relegation Round will remain in Division A, while the other two will be relegated to Division B.
The games of the Additional Qualifying Round and the Relegation Round will be played in August 2009 (5th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, 20th, 27th and 30th).
The draw for the groups of the Final Round as well as for the order of the games of the Additional Qualifying Round and the Relegation Round will take place in Warsaw, Poland on November 8th, 2008.
The EuroBasket 2009 Final Round will take place in the Polish cities of Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Bydgoszcz and Lodz and Katowice September 7-20.
