Three of the eight teams that are involved in do-or-die games on the final day of EuroChallenge Last 16 action will enter the fight with their morale high, following victories on the domestic front at the weekend.



BK Ventspils registered a comfortable 83-59 victory over the Latvia U18 side in LBL action on Sunday, even affording the chance to give playing time to all the players on their squad.

Janis Timma led all scorers with 17 points and added five rebounds while Martins Laksa finished with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Gaz Metan Medias extended their winning streak in the Romanian LNB to five games with a 71-55 victory on the road at BCM U Pitesti, behind a strong fourth quarter in which they outscored their hosts 22-8.

Ivan Ivanovic and Kyle Shiloh led the way with 15 points apiece and Ivan Lilov had 12 and six assists as all five Medias starters scored in double digits.

Joensuun Kataja trailed from start to finish and lost 92-78 away at league leaders KTP-Basket in the Finnish Korisliiga at the weekend.

Sami Lehtoranta led all Kataja scorers with 16 points and Jermaine Flowers contributed 13 points and seven rebounds.



Playing at home, Szolnoki Olaj came back from eight points down in the final quarter to beat Cedevita 64-59 in Adriatic ABA league action on Saturday.

Hungarian big man Marton Bader led the charge with 15 points, forward Ernests Kalve had 14 while Sead Šehović collected a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds and added five assists.

Paris Levallois saw one of the two players who missed last week's EuroChallenge game against BCM Gravelines Dunkerque through injury return to the line-up at the weekend, but their fortunes did not improve.

Center Sean May played for 27 minutes and contributed 10 points and nine rebounds and forward Jawad Williams did not feature as the Parisians slumped to a 78-70 loss to Dijon at home in French Pro A League action.

Antoine Diot and Andrew Albicy had 15 points apiece in defeat, with Albicy also dishing out seven assists.

BCM meanwhile confirmed their good momentum with a 71-68 win over Le Mans to improve to 15-5 and stay at the top of the Pro A standings.

In a clash between the two Turkish EuroChallenge sides, Tofas Bursa fell 87-77 to Group I leaders Pinar Karsiyaka on the road.

Tomislav Ruzic had 18 points and Chinemelu Elonu 15 points and six rebounds in defeat for Tofas.

For the winners, Abdul Aminu went 8-for-10 from the floor and led all scorers with 20 points, Robert Dixon had 17 points while William Thomas and Evren Büker chipped in with 16 points each.

Khimik Yuzhne gave up 50 to Mykolaiv in the second half of their Ukraine Superleague encounter and succumbed to an 82-68 defeat on the road, despite leading by one point at the half-time interval.

Willie Deane had 14 points and six assists while Suad Sehovic added 13 points in losing efforts for Khimik.

Norrköping Dolphins never managed to overcome a poor start to the game and suffered a shock 80-67 home defeat to LF Basket in the Swedish Basketligan on Friday.

Christian Maraker collected a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds while Keith Gabriel had 12 points in defeat.
