Slobodan Dundjerski scored 22 points, including the game-tying free throws with five seconds left in regulation, to lead Gaz Metan Medias to a 92-89 overtime victory at home over JDA Dijon in their Group D opener in the EuroChallenge. Five Medias players scored in double figures including Deven Mitchell with 19 points and Michael St. John with 13 points. Dijon wasted a 32-point showing by Andre Harris while Terrance Campbell added 20 points in the loss. Medias jumped out to a six-point lead in the first quarter with Mitchell and Titus Nicoara both scoring six points as the Romanian hosts led 20-15 after 10 minutes. The gap increased to 24-15 and Metan's advantage was still 27-18 before Harris tallied seven points in a 12-4 surge to pull the guest side within 31-30. The hosts led 41-38 at the break. Medias scored the first four points of the second half to open the lead back to seven points - 45-38 - before Campbell scored seven points in a 12-5 Dijon run to even the contest at 50-50. Metan were ahead 55-53 after three quarters. A 6-0 Dijon run gave them the lead 71-70 and Jeremy Leloup's triple made it 79-74 for the French with one minute to play. But Dundjerski made two foul shots with five seconds remaining to force overtime. In the extra session, Medias used a late 6-0 run to secure the win. |
