Roundup: Chevakata Storm Back To Win

EUROCUP WOMEN

Chevakata trailed Arras by 12 points late in the third quarter but stormed back and won 79-79 in the EuroCup Women.

In prevailing for the third time in as many games in the competition, Chevakata got 15 points and 11 rebounds from Yuliya Kiseleva.

Down 62-50 with 3:25 to go in the third period, Chevakata scored nine straight points.

Olesia Malashenko finished the run early in the fourth quarter with a three-pointer.

Trailing 64-59 with 8:32 to go, Malashenko then hit a jumper to spark an 11-0 run.

Pauline Akonga made two free throws for Arras to close the gap to 72-70 with 3:07 remaining but the visitors didn't score the rest of the game.

Svetlana Makhlina hit three of four free-throws for Chevakata as they pulled away.

Gabriela Marginean had 23 points and eight rebounds for Arras.

Also in Group E, BBC Sint-Katelijne-Waver edged SISU 63-61.

Sara Leemans made two free-throws in the last 47 seconds for the winners.

The Belgian side was led by Miete Celus' 20 points and seven rebounds.

In Group B, Dynamo - GUVD prevailed for the first time in the EuroCup Women with a 68-60 victory over Besiktas.

Natalya Myasoedova had 14 points and 19 rebounds for Dynamo.

Ilona Korstin, the Russia international for Besiktas, had 22 points and 12 boards in defeat.

The Flying Foxes scraped a 70-67 victory at Lemminkainen in Lithuania.

Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for the winning side from Austria.

Hainaut Basket turned on the style against Gran Canaria, winning 78-67 in Las Palmas.

Petra Stampalija had 14 points and 14 rebounds in the Group D victory.

Maccabi Bnot blew out Olimpia in Israel, 76-58.

In the Group F clash, Ashley Shields had 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Israelis.

Partizan Galenka and MBK Ruzomberok won their games in Group G.

Hajdana Radunovic had 12 points and 13 rebounds as Partizan beat Sdent Helios, 75-71.

In France, Ruzomberok claimed a 78-68 triumph at Basket Landes.

Defending champions Elitzur Ramla won 63-55 at USO Mondeville.

Taj McWilliams finished with 15 points and six rebounds for Ramla.

Horizont claimed a 92-67 victory at Lombos in Portugal.

In the Group A game, Belarus international Natallia Anufryienka poured in 34 points.
