Wisla Can-Pack have been rocked by confirmation they will be without the services of the influential Gunta Basko until at least December after the Latvia National Team star sustained a serious foot injury at the weekend.

Having lost their opening Euroleague Women game at USO Mondeville last week, this latest setback puts more pressure on Jose Hernandez and his team to secure their first win in the competition heading into the clash with Pecs 2010 on Wednesday.

The club can at least console themselves with the fact they are flying high in the Polish League and after routing reigning champions and fellow EuroLeague Women competitors Lotos Gdynia 82-54, it has undeniably been a bitter-sweet start to the season.

Despite the broken metatarsal sustained by Basko, Katarzyna Krezel is still trying to look on the bright side after moving to 7-0 in the domestic league and believes the team can eradicate the errors that plagued their display on French soil last week.

"We took our chances, making use of almost all mistakes made by Lotos Gdynia. I hope this win will help us feel more confident before the EuroLeague Women game on Wednesday."

"I am happy that the loss against USO Mondeville did not have a harmful effect on us. Moreover, it was an additional motivation for us."

"Our EuroLeague Women group is really equal - you could win or lose with anyone. I hope we will analyse our mistakes from the game in France to play well on Wednesday."

"We will certainly give our best."
