Arras Sweep Lille In French Encounter

Joyce Cousseins had 13 points and four rebounds in the convincing win for Nantes over Györ

Arras edged out Lille Metropole 58-56 to complete victory in their tie, having already held a 76-66 lead from the first leg.

Pauline Akonga scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to help ensure Lille had no way back into the tie.

Energa-Torun just fell short in their bid to overturn a five-point deficit in the EuroCup Women eighth-final clash against Gran Canaria.

Having lost the first leg 68-63 at home, they appeared to have it all to do, but they battled gamely, coming back from 58-54 down with a minute to go to win on three late free throws from  Krawiec.

But it was not enough to make up the gap after late three-point efforts from Roze Ratajczak and Veronika Bortelova came back off the rim.

Rosi Sanchez scored 19 points and Nicole Michael added 17 to lead Gran Canaria home.

A straightforward 74-58 home win over Seat Gyor saw Nantes Reze advance.

Holding a two-point advantage from the first leg, Nantes were clinical as Mame Sy collected 14 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals in an outstanding effort.
