Club Team 2012-13: Ceyhan Belediye (Turkey-TKBL) Career: TTT/Rapa (Latvia-LSBL, 1998-2000), Rapa/Rigas zieds (Latvia-LSBL, 2000-01), RTU/Klondaika (Latvia-LSBL, 2001-02), Stade Poitevin (France-NF2, 2002-08), SK Cesis (Latvia-LSBL, 2008-09), TTT Riga (Latvia-LSBL, 2009-11), Cadi La Seu D'Urgell (Spain-LF, Feb 2011-12), Ceyhan Belediye (Turkey-TKBL, 2012-13) Now very much a veteran, it's back to the future for Karklina at EuroBasket Women this summer, having previously spent six consecutive years playing in France. She arrived on the senior team scene relatively late, missing out on the Olympic dream, but made amends when after a season with SK Cesis in 2008-09, she was given a key role on home soil at EuroBasket Women 2009. Her generation mainly went to College but she stayed in Europe, studying in France. She can interchange with Babkina in the backcourt which makes them a tough duo to guard at times. She is a great defender and particularly effective at locking down opposing shooters on the perimeter. Last summer in qualification she didn't have her best percentages, but was a key distributor for her teammates, with a team-high 3.8 assists-per-game. Last season she played in one of the most competitive leagues in Europe when she pulled on a Ceyhan Belediye vest in the Turkish League. |
