Noginsk, Cesis And Targoviste Decisive Winners In EuroCup Women

Spartak M.R. Noginsk enjoyed a storming start to the EuroCup Women with an 82-56 mauling of BC Star-TLÜ in Tallinn on Thursday.

The Russian club, which got 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists from Colleen Miller, took immediate control and led 23-9 at the end of the first quarter and extended that to 44-22 by half-time.

The home side managed to reduce the deficit to 13 in the third quarter but were blown out in the end, leaving them with virtually no chance of winning the two-legged tie.

Latvian outfit SK Cesis led by just two points at half-time but then romped to a 70-53 triumph over ZKK Medvescak.

France international Sandra Dijon, who joined the club on a three-month contract just last week, paid a big dividend with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Latvia international Ieva Tare also scored 13 and grabbed eight rebounds.

Dea Klein-Sumanovac had 18 points in defeat.

In another early game, Municipal Targoviste were big winners at home. They thrashed Electra Ramat-Hasharon 76-47.

Radostina Slavova and Virginia-Elena Dinca each had 10 points in the victory.

Liad Suez Karni, an Israel international, had eight points and eight rebounds for Electra.
