Riley Wins EuroCup Women Player Of The Week Award


Veteran Center Ruth Riley of Sony Athinaikos lifted her team to the EuroCup Women Finals and led all players in efficiency on Thursday night in the second legs of the Semi-Finals.

The Former USA international had an efficiency of 25 and left behind former EuroLeague Women All Stars Anastasiya Veremeenko and  Sheana Mosh of Nadezhda and Jillian Robbins of Dynamo Kursk.

Riley scored 17 points on 8/10 from the field, pulled down 9 rebounds and also had two blocks.

The 1.95 center played her first season in Europe in 2003 for Ros Casares in the EuroLeague Women but has not played in a European club competition again before joining Athinaikos.

She spent 9 years in the WNBA playing for San Antonio, Detroit and Miami.

Riley and Athinaikos will play Nadezhda Orenburg in a two game series on April 1st and April 8th with Athinaikos having home court advantage in the decisive second game due to a better ranking after the group stage.
