Athinaikos Earn Advantage At Cesis

Vasileia Gkouzini poured in 15 points and Polymnia Sarekgou 14 as Athinaikos BC won 68-57 at SK Cesis in the EuroCup Women on Wednesday night.

Latoya Davis had a solid night for the Greek team as well with nine points and nine rebounds.

Athinaikos got their noses in front early in the game but weren't able to pull away.

Kristine Karklina hit a three-pointer and Willnett Crockett followed with a jump shot as Cesis closed to 57-55 with 6:26 left in the game.

Sarekgou responded with a jump shot and Athinaikos ended up extending their advantage to claim an 11-point margin of victory.

Baschet ICIM were no match at "home" for French outfit Tarbes who rolled to a 110-58 victory.

Béatrice Castets scored 23 points for Tarbes while Anita Meszaros scored a game-high 26 in defeat for the Romanian side who will be playing both their games in France.
