Roundup: Krstic Ready For Serbia; Barac breaks foot

09.04.2009

Nenad Krstic has underlined his commitment to Serbia's national team by announcing he will definitely play for the Blues at this summer's EuroBasket in Poland.

Krstic, a 2.13m center, averaged almost 14 points and six rebounds per game in Serbia's successful qualifying campaign in 2008.

"I'll play for Serbia at the EuroBasket," he said this week. "That was always, and still is, my one and only attitude."

Krstic will have an extremely busy summer and not just because of basketball.

The biggest and most important event for him is his wedding.

"Our wedding is scheduled for July and it will be a crown of our six-year relationship," he said.

"But, at the moment, I'm not sure when we'll organize our honeymoon due to my obligations to the national team.

"Maybe we'll take that trip even before wedding."

Krstic says he is extremely happy to be back in the United States after a short stint with BC Triumph in Russia earlier this season.

"I can't say that anything was bad during my stay at Triumph," he said, "but that 'basketball trip' to Russia has just convinced me that, if we are speaking about performances on the court, that I belong in the NBA.

"Of course, it wasn't easy for me at the start (with Oklahoma).

"It took time to adjust to new plays, new team-mates. But I'm thrilled to be back, both in the States and the NBA.

"The system is pretty much different than it was during my New Jersey Nets' days but as time goes by, I'm enjoying this game more and more."

Barac Out With Broken Foot

Croatia national team center Stanko Barac has broken his foot and will be sidelined for at least a month.

Barac, who played for Croatia at last summer's Olympics in Beijing, has had a disappointing season at TAU Ceramica.

The 2.17m Barac has averaged just 12 minutes per game.
