BC Strumica prevailed in a remarkable second leg encounter against Cedevita Zagreb 75-69 to stay alive in the EuroCup.
After a 76-72 defeat in Zagreb, Jovica Arsic’s men returned to FYR Macedonia banking on their incredible home support to help them come back and win by at least five points to reach the Elimination Round 2 of the competition.
For the first time in three years, a basketball team from FYR Macecondia played in Europe this week when BC Strumica travelled to Croatia took on Cedevita Zagreb in the EuroCup.
Though Jovic Arsic's men lost the first leg of the Elimination Round tie 76-72, Strumica will consider the four-point deficit as tolerable and one that can be overturned once the return leg is played before a frenetic crowd back in Macedonia.
Strumica 2005 coach Jovica Arsic is in confident mood ahead of their meeting with Croatia side Cedevita in the EuroCup elimination round.
Strumica won the FYR Macedonian Supercup after thrashing Vardar 2000 Skopje by 99-62 and in their domestic league currently stand in fourth place having won three games and lost one.
Croatian national team veteran Slaven Rimac scored 22 points to lead Cedevita Zagreb to a 76-72 home victory against BC Strumica 2005 in the first Elimination Round of the EuroCup.
Rimac came to Cedevita with loads of experience, including helping Azovmash Mariupol reach the EuroCup final last season. And the 32-year-old guard came up big time and again for Cedevita, none bigger than his three-point play for a 75-71 lead late.
