Sdent Sierre Basket destroyed Uniao da Madeira 96-51 on Wednesday to storm into the EuroCup Women Preliminary Round.
Beaten 59-57 in the first leg in Portugal, the Swiss outfit had a real battle on their hands at the start of the second quarter when they trailed 23-19.
That’s when the wheels suddenly came off for the team from Madeira, though.
They were held to just two more points for the rest of the period and went to half-time trailing 43-25.
Rhona McKenzie (15 points), Ofelia Maria Villarroel Caraballo (13) and Katrien Vercauteren (12) had done most of the damage for the home side in the first two quarters.
Any hopes of a comeback were dead four minutes into the second half, with the home side reeling off the first 11 points to stretch the lead to 54-25.
McKenzie would go on to pour in a game-high 29 points, Caraballo 25 and Vercauteren 22.
