Sophie Charlier

Career: Alliance Flémalle (Belgium-D1, 1999-2001), BCSS Namur (Belgium-D1, 2001-2002), Deerlijk (Belgium-D1, 2002-2004), Dexia Namur (Belgium—D1, 2004-2006), Université BC Neuchâtel (Switzerland-LNA, 2006-2008)

Sophie Charlier certainly doesn’t regret her choice to play in Switzerland this season. After spending four years at Dexia Namur and gaining Euroleague Women experience in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, Charlier chose to play with Neuchâtel, coached by her compatriot Thibaut Petit. The 25-year-old had an important role in the team’s National Championship this season, averaging 9.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists, which helped her side earn a EuroCup Women berth for next season. An important player off the bench, Charlier was in Greece with the Belgian team for EuroBasket 2003, but saw limited action. This summer, she is eager to contribute a little more on the court.
