Serbia Lock Up Latvia In 4th Quarter, Get Win

Serbia pulled off a 64-61 come-from-behind victory to stun Latvia in Group E on Tuesday.

Trailing 61-49 with 4:55 remaining, the Serbs scored 15 unanswered points to seal the win, with Tina Jovanovic pouring in eight of them.

Jovanovic led Serbia with 19 points and hauled in 13 rebounds.

Serbia also got a big contribution from Sara Krnjic, who had eight of her 17 points in the final stanza.

Latvia star Sabine Niedola had 12 of her game-high 22 points in the first half as Latvia led 36-35 at the break.

The Baltic side extended their advantage to 57-43 early in the final quarter before never-say-die Serbia came back to seal the win.

Latvia were out-rebounded 43-34.

Serbia were just 19 of 58 (32.7%) from the floor but still managed to win, while Latvia finished 23 of 60 (38.5%).
