19 July 2007

Serbia coach Dragan Vascanin believes his side have an excellent chance of success at the forthcoming U16 European Championship Men.

A joint Serbia and Montenegro side finished third last year and Vascanin is confident his team can match that achievement.

"I strongly believe that this team have potential for one of the medals," he said.

"I believe in this squad. I have a lot of faith in them."

Serbia's key player is expected to be Dejan Musli, a giant center who impressed in last year's tournament in Spain, averaging 15.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.

Serbia, who won the Balkan Championship while preparing for the main summer event, will contest Group B alongside Israel, France and the Czech Republic.

The tournament tips-off on July 20.
