By David HeinSara Krnjic collected 21 points and 15 rebounds in helping Serbia secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the U20 European Championship for Women with an 89-72 victory over Belarus.
Jovana Popovic added 14 points, four rebounds and six assists as the Serbs improved to 3-2 in the qualifying round Group E.
Maryia Filonchyk and Katsiaryna Kashlei both scored 12 points but could not stop Belarus from dropping to 1-4 in the group and miss the quarters. Aliaksandra Musatava had 11 points and Maryia Papova chipped in 10 points in the loss.
Belarus kept up with Serbia in the first quarter, not trailing by more than six points and down only 28-25 after one period.
But a 14-2 Serbian run to start the second quarter opened a 15-point lead. And Serbia extended the advantage to 20 points by halftime - 55-35.
A 9-1 start to the second half pushed the cushion to 28 points - 64-36. Belarus however answered with an 11-0 run to trim the margin to 14 points. And it was 67-52 after three quarters.
The Serbs finally put away Belarus for good with a 13-3 run early in the fourth quarter for a 22-point lead
