TURKEY VS SERBIA
Turkey will stay in the U16 European Championship Women Division A, after defeating Serbia, 76-59, in a do-or-die game at University Sports Hall.
The game was very balanced during the first minutes, but the Turkish team was able to stop Aleksandra Crvendakic from scoring, and made a 13-0 run between the initial quarters.
With a 18-point lead at half time, 38-20, Turkey started to dream about staying in the top division, but Serbia came back strong from the locker room.
But the Serbian efforts were not enough, as Turkey stayed in front in the last quarter, ending their opponents' hopes.
The Turkish deservingly won on efficient shooting, making 48 per cent of their 68 field goals attempts.
Beylem Ilba (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Betul Erkoyuncu (10 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles for Turkey, but it was Serife Onar to finish as the best Turkish scorer, with 19 points.
Aleksandra Crvendakic highlighted the Serbian team with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
GERMANY VS ENGLAND
Germany and England, last year's U16 European Championship Women Division B finalists, ended up being relegated, finishing in 15th and 16th place, respectively.
In their last match of the tournament, Germany defeated the English team, 60-48.
Both teams tried their best to finish with a victory, but the Germans were stronger in every quarter, slowly building a lead and containing it until the end of the game.
Emma Stach wrapped up a fantastic championship, scoring 24 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
Lisa Janko also had a remarkable performance in the last match, scoring 12 points and securing seven rebounds.
As for the English side, Samanta Clement was their best scorer, with 13 points.
