|If France were supposed to take it easy against Montenegro, Axel Toupane didn't get the memo |
France recorded their first victory of the U20 European Championship by dismantling Montenegro, 102-68, in a Group A match-up in Kranjska Gora.
The game was close only for four minutes, until France went on a 9-0 run which gave them a 21-12 lead and never looked back.
Montenegro shot the ball very poorly, making only 30.4 percent of their field goal attempts, while France made 63 percent.
Axel Toupanne led the French team to victory with 17 points, Vincent Pourchot chipped in with 16, as all twelve players scored for the winners.
Montenegro's big man Vukota Pavic was once again the key player for his team with 16 points, but couldn't prevent the French team from winning the rebounding battle, 38-19.
On Saturday, France will meet Serbia, who are yet to be defeated in this tournament, while Montenegro will try to beat Germany to keep their qualification hopes alive.
