U20 European Championship
Montenegro finished the Qualifying Round with a 61-56 win over Latvia in a game that decided the third spot in Group E.
Following the win Montenegro holds a 3-2 record and stand in the third spot of the group.
Latvia fell to 2-3 and will finish fourth, ready to face the top spot of the parallel group in the Quarter-Finals on Friday.
Bojan Dubljevic was once again the top scorer of the winners with 18 points and saw Marko Todorovic reach 12 points and 11 rebounds next to two blocks as well.
Mareks Mejeris and Arturs Bricis scored 13 for Latvia while the first added also nine boards and four blocks.
A slow first quarter saw Latvia hold a minimum 9-10 lead after 10 minutes, but Todorovic with a dunk and Nikola Ivanovic with a three pointer showed a different leader on the scoreboards and now Montenegro had a 27-24 lead after 16 minutes.
Dubljevic with points around the rim pushed the gap to five, yet Latvia answered fast and finished the first half down by just a bucket, 34-32.
Despite the good momentum into the break Latvia didn't show up back from the locker-rooms and scored their first points after seven minutes in the second half.
By then Dubljevic and Todorovic with another dunk pushed the gap to 43-32.
Montenegro didn't allow Latvia back in the game, while Todorovic wowed with an alley-hoop following an Ivanovic pass that set the gap on 10, 57-47, in the closing minutes.
