Milos Savovic hit a three-pointer with one second left to give Montenegro a 73-70 overtime victory over Serbia and secure them a spot in the Quarter-Finals of the U20 European Championships.
Nikola Vucevic collected 18 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks while Savovic added 12 points and Nikola Djokovic had 11 points for Montenegro, who improved to 3-2 in the Qualifying Round Group F to finish third and set up a final eight date with France.
Sead Sehovic was held to just seven points on 3 of 17 shooting but chipped in seven rebounds and six assists.
Serbia finished in last place in Group F with a 1-4 record despite 18 points from Aleksandar Mitrovic. Bojan Subotic scored 13 points, Dragan Milosavljevic had 12 points and 11 points came from Nemanja Nedovic.
Montenegro took the first sizable lead, going ahead 11-4. Subotic scored the next seven points to knot the game before Montenegro led 18-17 after one period.
Savovic drained a triple and Milos Lopiciic scored five points in Montenegro's 12-2 start to the second quarter for a 30-19 lead. Dejan Radonjic's team was up 35-28 at the break.
The third quarter featured Nedovic knock down three triples in a 17-7 run for a 45-42 Serbia lead. And Slobodan Klipa's team were ahead 47-45 after three periods.
Montenegro out-scored Serbia 10-0 to start the fourth quarter with Djokovic and Nikola Ivanovic hitting three-balls for a 55-47 advantage. The gap was still 59-51 with just more than two minutes left. But Milosavljevic scored four points and Mitrovic made two free throws with seven seconds left to knot the game at 61-61. Sehovic missed a potential game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer.
In overtime, Milosavljevic hit two three-balls for a 69-65 lead. Ivanovic answered with a trey of his own and the game was even at 70-70. Dusko Bunic missed two foul shots with 30 seconds left and then Vucevic blocked Mitrovic's shot with 11 seconds to play, setting up Savovic's heroics.
