Hosts To Take On Czechs For Ninth Place

Hosts Italy knocked off Montenegro 73-51 to advance to the Ninth Placed Game of the U20 European Championship for Women where they take on the Czech Republic - 78-69 winners over Belarus.

Chiara Consolini and Martina Crippa both scored 15 points for Italy, who led 22-10 after one period and never looked back in front of the home fans.

Ukraine Dominate Montenegro

Oleksandra Prystupa poured in 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in leading Ukraine to a 94-65 victory over Montenegro at the U20 European Championship for Women to secure them third place in the Qualifying Round Group F.

Oksana Kisilova added 17 points for the Ukrainians, who improved to 2-3 and will now play in the fifth-eighth group. Arina Lysyuk had 13 points and Olena Samburska added 12.

For Tiny Montenegro It's 'Mission Accomplished'

When Montenegro entered the FIBA Europe youth system last summer, many thought it would only be a matter of time before they made their presence felt on the continental championship scene.

Well, after cruising their way to the U20 European Championship for Women Division B title in 2007, Rade Petrovic's team has accomplished its mission for the 2008 Division A tournament by avoiding relegation back to Division B.

Lithuania Streak Past Montenegro

Gintare Petronyte tallied 31 points and 12 rebounds as Lithuania could do little wrong in streaking past Montenegro 100-48 in Group F of the U20 European Championship for Women.

The captain had 15 points and seven rebounds in the first quarter for Lithuania, who improved to 1-3 in the Qualifying Round group.
