K.V. Imperial Advance With Impressive Win At Rivasecopolis


K.V. Imperial AEL escaped Rivasecopolis with a 79-70 victory on Thursday to reach the Eighth-Finals of the EuroCup Women.

The triumph, following their 62-58 home victory last week, gave the Cypriot club a 13-point triumph on aggregate.

The second meeting between the sides hung in the balance until the final minute.

With 57 seconds to go, Laura Camps' jump shot for Madrid outfit Rivasecopolis left them trailing 71-67 on the night to level the tie over the two legs.

Biljana Pesovic and Natasha Lacy each went to the line and made two free throws for K.V. Imperial AEL and they held on for a nine-point success on the night.

Azra Becirovic had 17 points for the winners while Jelena Dubljevic scored a game-high 20 in defeat.

Ibiza-PDV had no trouble putting away their fellow Spaniards Extrugasa.

After prevailing 79-61 in the first leg, they stormed to a 78-61 victory.

Silvia Morales had 13 points for Ibiza.

ZKK Hemofarm Vrsac had a fight on their hands against Spartak Moscow Region Noginsk but advanced after a 92-87 triumph.

The Serbian team won on the road in the first leg 73-57 but Spartak, despite falling behind by 11 points in the second quarter, came back and went in front 63-54 with 4:11 to go in the third quarter.

Vrsac held their nerve and tied the game at 68-68 early in the fourth quarter and refused to let Spartak open back up a big lead to threaten their aggregate advantage.

Biljana Stankovic had 23 points and Tamara Radocaj 21 for Vrsac.

Dexia W Namur won the first leg of their tie against Kara Trutnov by 12 points and they rolled to an 83-69 victory in Belgium in the second meeting.

Pauline Akonga Nsimbo dominated in points and rebounds with 30 and 17 for Dexia.

Cras Basket Taranto played at home with a five-point advantage after the first leg at CSS-LMK SF. Gheorghe and the Italian side had no trouble finishing the job.

Suzy Batkovic tore Gheorghe apart with 28 points and 11 rebounds as Taranto won 80-60 on Thursday to progress.
