|After watching from the sidelines for the last 115 days, Amaya Valdemoro has returned to action and promises she will be back at her best again|
Amaya Valdemoro had a winning return from injury with Rivas Ecopolis against Girona FC on Saturday.
The EuroBasket Women 2007 MVP, who suffered two wrist fractures back in October during Rivas Ecopolis' first EuroLeague Women game of the season against Gospic Croatia, played just over 16 minutes in a 78-69 win over Girona.
Valdemoro missed all five of her shots from the floor and scored just three points.
She came up with a game-high five steals for her club.
The day before the game, Valdemoro spoke to Spanish daily Marca about the injury which had kept her off the court for 115 days.
"It's been a very strange injury," she said.
"It's as though a photographer breaks his camera."
Valdemoro has been trying to find her shooting rhythm in practice.
"In training there are days when I don't get a single shot in and others when I am my usual self," she said.
Valdemoro also stressed she was not afraid to play the game as she knows how on both ends of the court.
"I would do the same action (that led to the injury) again," she said.
Valdemoro got hurt when she tried to block a shot with both hands against a player that was taller than her.
She ended up falling and breaking her wrists.
Valdemoro is looking forward to the team's EuroLeague Women Round 2 tie against Bourges Baskets.
The opening game of the best-of-three series is on 21 February.
"One of the most important games in the history of Rivas," she said.
"I don't want anyone missing it."
Valdemoro also said she hasn't ruled out playing for Spain again.
She was in the squad in Poland last year at the EuroBasket Women but made just one appearance against Germany because of an injury.
"I need basketball in my life so if they call me, I will go," Valdemoro said.
"I have to earn it, without a doubt.
"I will return to be the same Amaya."
Spain will attempt to qualify for the EuroBasket Women 2013 in France.
They were drawn in Group D against Germany, Sweden, Romania and Bulgaria.
