| Career: RTU/Klondaika Riga (Latvia-LSBL, 1995-98), Siena (USA-NCAA, 1999-2003), Ramat-Hasharon (Israel-D1, 2003-04), Tarbes Gespe Basket (France-LFB, 2004-06), Lattes-Maurin Montpellier (France-LFB, 2006-07)
For some players at the highest level basketball might be hard work. But for Gunta it’s just fun. The Riga native always tries do not only her job but to go above and beyond for the good of the team. Basko grew up playing with RTU/Klondaika and spent four years at Siena University in the USA. Her career in Europe began in Israel but since 2004 she has played in France. Her position is small forward but Gunta can also play as a point guard or power forward and usually has good statistics in a variety of categories. Quick and aggressive with good shooting and defending skills, she has been one of the leaders of the National Team for years. In 1999 Basko was one of the youngest competitors at EuroBasket Women and six years later in 2005 she was one of the key players in Latvia’s successful performance. Now, the 1.81 m forward is dreaming about qualifying for the Olympics in Beijing. | | |
