Bryan Hopkins scored 24 points to help fire the Antwerp Giants to a 90-82 victory at WBC Raiffeisen Wels in the EuroChallenge.
Hopkins poured in 21 points in the first half, but saved his biggest basket for the end when his three-pointer with just 20 seconds left staved off a furious rally from the home team.
Jason Conley led WBC with a very impressive 19 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Austrian club dropped to 0-2 to begin the season.
Antwerp took a 13-point lead into the break and seemed to be cruising to victory but WBC refused to give up.
Conley's three-pointer with 1:41 to go trimmed the Giants' lead, which had been 18, down to just four points.
It seemed an incredible comeback might be on the cards, but Hopkins' shot iced the game for Antwerp.
The Giants also got 18 points from Graham Brown and 15 apiece from Belgium international Christophe Beghin and Brandon Gay.
They will look to move to 2-1 on the young season next week when they host Tartu Rock, while WBC will look for its first victory as it hosts the Artland Dragons.
