WBC Raiffeisen Wels came through in overtime to beat Tartu Rock 64-60 in a battle of Group G strugglers in the EuroChallenge. Having once led the game by double figures, Tartu were up by four, 56-52, with 2:16 to go. But Andrew Strait made the back end of a pair of free throws before Ricky Moore nailed a three-pointer to tie it with 1:04 to go. Marek Doronin and Todd Abernathy both missed potential game winners for Tartu, before Trenton Meacham was likewise off-target for the hosts. But in the extra period, WBC led first through Strait before Doronin's lay-up tied it. Strait made another lay-up only to see it cancelled out by Scott Morrison. But Tartu had no answer to Jason Conley's lay-up and Meacham iced it with two free throws 17 seconds from time. Conley led the way with 16 points, while Strait had 13, Meacham 12 and Matthew Nelson 10. Tartu wasted 25 points from Morrison while Janar Talts had 13 and Doronin 12. |
